Mission Statement

To provide financial support that directly contributes to the nurturing, and empowering environment for orphaned and vulnerable children, fostering their physical, emotional, and educational development to help them reach their full potential.

Belonging is a not-for-profit organization committed to securing essential resources, education and financial support for vulnerable children and mothers who have been displaced from their family homes. We are committed to helping them rebuild stability and a better quality of life and support the integration back into the community.

Belonging focuses on providing family-based care within dedicated villages and preventing child abandonment through the Family Strengthening Program. Belonging supports two children's villages, located north of Lebanon, emphasizing a model built on the roles of a mother, siblings, a home, and a village for each child. The mission is to build families, shape futures, and contribute to communities, grounded in the belief that every child deserves to grow with love, respect, and security.

Kindness wasn't a transaction; it was simply a way of life, offered freely and without expectation. Life, however, took an unforeseen turn, leaving me an orphan, adrift in a sea of questions. The profound loss of my parents shook my world, yet within that sorrow, a quiet understanding began to bloom. Their absence ignited a fervent desire within me to create a haven for other orphans, to extend the very opportunities my parents had so lovingly provided.

And so, Belonging was born from these deeply rooted foundations. It is a testament to the belief that every child, regardless of circumstance, deserves to feel the warmth of love, to have access to the fundamental necessities of life, and to unlock their potential through education. We also recognise the incredible strength and resilience of mothers, often displaced and struggling to hold their families together. Belonging strives to empower these mothers with the vital tools, unwavering support, and essential resources they need to build stable homes for their children, enabling them to become active and meaningful contributors to their communities.

Belonging is more than just an organisation; it is the embodiment of a heartfelt legacy, a promise to nurture and uplift, inspired by a childhood where kindness reigned and a personal journey that transformed loss into a powerful purpose.

THE FOUNDER

My formative years commenced in Australia, followed by a significant six-year period immersed in the dynamic culture of Lebanon. At the age of nine, my parents decided to return to Australia, a journey undertaken with the hope of a brighter future, a chance for a better education, and a life shielded from the economic uncertainties that shadowed Lebanon. My childhood in Lebanon was profoundly shaped by an ethos of unassuming generosity. Our home was a haven, a testament to my grandfather’s boundless compassion. I vividly recall the strangers he welcomed, the weary travelers offered warmth, food, and a safe night’s rest before continuing their path. My mother, with her gentle spirit, dedicated her time to the children of our village school as an English teacher, nurturing their intellectual growth. These cherished memories of Lebanon became the foundations of the values I hold dear.
